Our five favourite London market meals
Nº 1 - BRIXTON MARKET'S CHICKEN LIQUOR
We used to live a fifteen minute walk from Brixton Market, so Chicken Liquor became one of our favourite brunch spots. As part of the Meat Liquor brand, it suits ravenous carnivores (especially those who are hungover). Chicken burgers are priced between £7 and £9, with fries circa £2.50 - you'd only need to share a portion between 2 as you get loads.
Nº 2 - GREENWICH MARKET'S PIMP MY RAMEN
Bored of beef burgers sandwiched in simple bread buns? Visit Greenwich Market to experience one of the tastiest burgers in London: a toasted ramen 'bun' enclosing pulled pork with a perfectly round fried egg and spicy sauce. YUM.
Nº 3 - MALTBY STREET MARKET'S WAFFLE ON
Rachel is a fan of pancakes or waffles with bacon and maple syrup (including Duck and Waffle). Add in fresh, original-recipe waffles and a fried egg and you have a breakfast for champions (with a sweet tooth...)
Nº 4 - BOROUGH MARKET'S MARIA'S MARKET CAFE
Its easy to feel overwhelmed at how busy Borough Market is most of the time. There's a lot of choice in terms of stalls and restaurants, but for something simple yet satisfying, get down to Maria's for traditional bubble & squeak.
Nº 5 - MODEL MARKET'S YUM BUN
Ah, baos. Fluffy cloud-like buns with tasty fillings squidged in the middle. They can be found at most of Street Feast's London locations. Model Market is our favourite, based in Lewisham, South East London. It's less sprawling than some of the other sites and is home to our favourite vendors. Expect to pay between £3 and £5 per bao, with certain buy-more-save-more deals.
