One wintry evening in South London, I decided to act upon my passion for travel and book a one-way flight to Australia. I embarked on a new adventure with a limited budget, countless ideas, and a boyfriend in tow!

We spent one year backpacking across Australia, South East Asia, California and Latin America before landing back in England. We now live and work in London, Rachel as a solicitor and Matt in technology sales.

Across Land & Sea was born out of frustration whilst planning this trip. I stumbled across hundreds of poorly designed blogs publishing yet another “Things you simply cannot miss in Bali”-style posts (which really should be titled “The top 5 tourist traps/heaving Instagram spots”).

I decided it was time to sort the wheat from the chaff and to share a thoughtfully-curated collection of travel experiences which are worth both your time and money.

I hope that it will inspire you to make your own journey across land and sea!

A three-week trip to Ghana in my first year of university sparked my love of travel. I relaxed on the Cape Coast, experienced daily life in Kumasi and saw wild elephants at Mole National Park - it was incredible. After finishing my studies and deferring my start date at my law firm by one year, I took the opportunity to explore the world and create Across Land & Sea. I am now a solicitor working at an international law firm in London.

We met whilst studying at Loughborough University and moved to London on graduation, which found us going to the theatre at least once a week and starting ballroom dance classes! After living and working in the capital for two years, we jumped at the chance to take a year off. We're now back in the UK, gathering a hefty collection of houseplants.

My Grandma has travelled extensively -  Komodo, Georgia, even North Korea - and she is my travel inspiration. Before university, I completed a ski season in France and travelled to Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Quitting my job in London to join Rachel on a year out was a no-brainer, and I’m already planning our next adventure (London to Singapore, by road…)

We have lots planned for 2019 and beyond.
